The Foundation of Our Cultivation
We grow in living soil beds indoor and outdoor. Living soil is an organic no-till system or the soil is built with a diversity of fungi bacteria and microorganisms that break down the organic material to feed the plants. A well balanced living soil will only get better over time.
Enhanced Soil Health
We apply the technique of growing cover crops on the top layer of our soil. These are low growing crops such as clover and purslane which grow symbiotically with our cannabis plants, sequestering carbon and fixing nitrogen in the soil. Cover crops also add to the microbiology of the soil and help with not only water retention but also aeration of the soil.
Organic Nutrient Enrichment
Vermiculture is another strategy we like to integrate into our system. This is the process of composting using a combination of earthworms and composting worms to break down the organic material in the soil and make nutrients available to the plants. We use vermiculture techniques in our compost piles along with applying it directly to our living soil beds.
Natural Plant Protection
Our ipm, integrated pest management, is a two-part strategy. Our foliage treatment consists of diluted salt water which dehydrates and kills most detrimental insects while acting as a micronutrient foliar feed at the same time. In the past at times we have also used beneficial bacterias or Horticultural oils in the vegetative stage of growth for prevention. We do not apply any of these methods beyond the vegetative stage. Our soil treatment method is a combination of diluted H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) or diatomaceous earth which is crushed up freshwater shells which acts as miniature razor blades to cut and dehydrate insects. Diatomaceous earth also breaks down into calcium and other micronutrients to help feed the plants.
Pure Water Source
Our crops are watered from the tahuya aquifer which is one of the cleanest in the nation. It consists of snow and glacial melt from the Olympic mountains which takes several hundred years to filter through into the aquifer. We truly believe this is a blessing that enhances the quality of our crops and a pivotal part of our success.
A message from the grower
The inception of 111 Ranch’s vision traces back nearly three decades, born amidst a personal battle for survival. In my most trying times, cannabis emerged as a beacon, providing solace and healing. It became an integral part of my recovery, fostering a profound, almost spiritual connection with the plant and its remarkable journey from seed to harvest. This relationship has driven our commitment to cultivating cannabis products of unparalleled purity and quality.
At 111 Ranch, our mission is deeply rooted in the medicinal heritage of cannabis. This foundation empowers us to leverage our extensive experience to innovate across the industry, from pioneering regenerative farming techniques to developing cutting-edge products and award-winning genetics. At the core of our business practices lies an unwavering respect for the resources bestowed upon us.
Our dedication remains steadfast as we strive for excellence and innovation in every aspect of our operations.
*You can find more information on regenerative farming, vermiculture, no till farming, cover crops and just about anything else in that genre online
*Our feeding regiment consists of organic compost made on our from the waste from our harvests, earthworm castings made from our own on site vermicultures and FAA or fish amino acids which is derived from the fish crab and shrimp we catch ourselves locally on the Hood Canal and Puget Sound. We do not use any store-bought products on our crops.
